    Subject: Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-itx/AC - disable CPU cores?

Hi, with the Asrock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-itx/AC motherboard, is it possible to disable one or more CPU cores? I have an AMD Ryzen 5 2400G, which is a quad-core CPU. I'd like to have only two active cores. I've gone through the BIOS numerous times, but can't seem to find a setting that allows me to disable some CPU cores. Is there such an option in the BIOS? Thanks!

That appears to be a Windows tool? I'm running Linux. I know how to do it from the OS (echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpuX/online), but I would prefer to do it in the BIOS.

    Thanks!

Honestly, I would go with the 850 for the headroom. On the other hand, if your power bill is something you would like to save a few $$ on then go with the platinum, though the difference will be pennies.

Alright, I've solved the problem with the Asrock RGB utility.
    The separate download from here:
    https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/Fatal1ty%20X370%20Gaming%20K4/index.asp#Download
    - ASRock RGB LED ver:1.0.41

does not work. Program quits a couple seconds soon after starting. So i uninstalled it and downloaded the APP Shop ver:1.0.41, then download the older RGB utilty ver 1.0.39 from the App store, then it works.

I missed this change when doing a bios update to my a320m-HDV. And it has been nothing but a headache ever since. Nothing is behaving nicely like it was previously with my dual graphics setup. I sent a support ticket with the info.

In the mean time don't upgrade to the latest bios imo. If you want to know why I was upgrading the bios well habit actually. Igpu needs to be set as main when forced or it still does not work with discrete graphics. Also when this is done HDMI audio form pcie is not detected. Like I said lots of misbehaving stuff. cheers

    So,

I built this for my son about 6 months ago with Ryzen 1600 and HyperX 2333.

This weekend we were trying some tweaking in BIOS and I followed some youtube guides for this board. Seemed very straight forward. Proved anything but. 3 Beeps followed by one beep and restart. I had to reset the cmos jumper to get it to post again. Returned to defaults, reboot, then back into BIOS and tried a very simple OC of cpu and upped the vcore to 1.3v. No changes to memory speed or timings.

System reboots, then back to windows, the CPU-Z, which reports stock clocks. Rinse repeat about 4 more times - same outcome. NO OC

So I updated BIOS as per the instructions, up to v 5.10. Same outcome - NO OC in CPU-Z.

What the heck am I missing?

Ps- Ive build and OC'd 10-15 gaming rigs. Not a newb, just newb to asrock ;/

    Thanks in advance!

Just for giggles try setting the igpu as main instead.

I feel you but you have learned a lesson here.

    BIOS is updated ONLY if:
    - one likes experimenting/tinkeing
    - one can afford to lose one's current state of affairs
    - one has an irreparable issue with the current BIOS version
    - Leeeeroy Jenkiiiins/#yolo
    - one waits for some specific feature/fix that is not present in the current BIOS version
