Subject: A320M-HDV R4.0 changing GFX Frequency does nothing

Hello there,

I've recently create PC based on Asrock A320M-HDV R 4.0 and AMD Athlon 3000G. Since it's lacking GPU it would be nice to be able to overclock igpu frequency. Sadly the BIOS options which supposed to do so, seems to have no impact on frequency after boot. I've tried several combinations of both parameters (voltage and frequency), but in Windows they stay at default values (confirmed by performance in benchmarks and also by few monitoring applications). Obviously Vega 3 isn't supported by any know to me overclocking software.

I'm running P 3.70 BIOS (as far as I know the newest). Overclocking DDR works perfectly fine. Any suggestions?

I have an ASRock B550 Pro4 motherboard and would like to install the APP Shop. The installation succeeds, but when I click on the desktop shortcut I get this error:

"This utility is not for this platform!"

The installation of the AMD Chipset Software was successful.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think I got this error with all the other software from the product page of this motherboard. (https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/B550%20Pro4/index.asp#Download)

Do you know why this doesn't work?

Thank you in advance!

Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
ASRock Radeon RX 5700 XT Challenger D 8G OC
ASRock B550 Pro4
(Motherboard version field is empty in sysinfo, I have never updated it)

I had the exact same issue. Same thing, Ryzen 5 3600 stuck in a boot loop, no video. Bios sticker on the mobo was crossed out with a sharpie. After some research (and reading the negative reviews on newegg) this board was marketed compatible with the Ryzen 5 3600 but it is not compatible out of the box. It requires an update to bios version 5.40. I read through all the compatible CPU's on the ASRock website for this mobo and focused on the ones that were marked "ALL" in the bios compatibility column. I then started shopping. The AMD A6-9500 was the cheapest so I picked it up for $66.45 USD (inclusing taxes and everything). I swapped out the ryzen for the a6 and it booted up just fine. I then had to update the bios in 3 stages. The bios sticker on the mobo said 3.20, even though it was crossed out it clearly read 3.20. Following the instructions on the site for this board you first have to update it to version 3.50, then to 5.10, and finailly to 5.40 which adds support for the Ryzen 5 3600 (among others). I swapped back to the Ryzen and she booted up first try! It was a pain, and now I'm left with this $66 A6 chip collecting dust but it works!

I've still been unable to get more than a single 8GB stick of B-die to boot. Even 2x8GB B-die will power off at Dr Debug code 36.

I've tried this several different ways, no success yet. I don't know what to do at this point... I've ordered a B550 and will see how that goes.

I had a couple of slightly bent pins on an opened box unused cpu, my guess is the original purchaser panicked and re-sold, neglected to list the bent pins until I closed sale.
Here's a fairly obvious quick fix for bent Ryzen 9 cpu pins not way past vertical (Lets say less than 30 degrees from vertical):
1. BUY a MAGNIFYING DESK LAMP they're cheap and free both the hands.
2. Box Cutter Blade (not for cutting duh)
3. criss-cross straighten using the the cpu pin grid row as a guide for bent dudes
4. Do it gently, very gently
5. My cpu popped, it didn't just 'drop' straight in. I wiggled the socket lever, sat one side in, lifted back out sat another side in and wiggled, lifted out, once I was satisfied the pins across different sides of the 4 faces of the cpu 'square' were liking this idea and wanted to seat in their socket holes gently push flat I lost a couple of pounds in perspiration at this step, wiggle the socket clamp lever back and forth. My Ryzen 9 3900X popped in a little more first on the bad side, and was tight so I knew it was going in, then she dropped all the way and shut tight with the lever down. I saved about $200 on the cpu and spent about $40 on the desk lamp. I still don't recommend buying a cpu with bent pins, but if you drop yours and the pins get bent enough to not seat in the cpu socket its not all over.

JayzTwoCents has a YT vid upload HowTo (installing MS Win 10), URL = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYYoCXh2gtw&t=2s

He explains this very thing: detecting and setting your NVMe SSD drive and all the rest when installing a new PC build OS. Including what to set in BIOS, k/b shortcut config interventions and how to detect the drive to format it, employing UEFI usb stick OS install...
In short everything you need to know from build complete to firing up a Star killer primary weapons system.

Hey all, I'm having issues with my X570 Taichi and a 3900x. During normal use my Vcore is 1.49v, and I feel that is just too high. I tried the Mv offset and it didn't seem to do anything. I've messed around quite a bit the last few days and outside of an all core overclock I think It's beaten me. I would prefer to let it boost on its own for better single core clocks for gaming, but can't get the voltage down without a bit of a cascade off fires to put out. Thanks in advance for any help. I'd kiss whoever can.

I have the same issue. For me, nothing is turned on. No lights. Both the CPU fan and the PSU fans don't spin. Should either fan at least spin a little bit?

I tested the PSU using the paper clip method and the PSU seems to be fine.

Here's the components I use:

Ryzen 5 3600
Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16
WD Black SN750 500GB NvMe
Thermaltake Smart 430W PSU

I've tried using a 4GB ram that I pulled out from a 6-month old Acer PC. I've tried both memory slots and that didn't help.

What could be the problem? If nothing is turned on, is the mothoerboard dead? I just bought it new.

Hey all,

Also suffering the same BIOS resetting issues on the X570 Phantom Gaming ITX-BT3. I know that due to the volume of issues it is unlikely a battery issue or anything like that BUT I may change out the battery any way. However looking at this board I cannot for the life of me find where you replace the battery on this thing.

Can someone point out to me where it is kept ?

Thanks !

I thought datonyb's advice of 1.4v would have nailed it to success.

if still not, then make sure the single 8GB stick voltages are
Dram 1.4V or more, all the all up to 1.45V is safe, especially just to test boot.
then

don't load XMP yet, don't run 2666mhz, not even 2133mhz, instead try 1866mhz, or whatever lowest possible.

SOC_V 1.2v this is default when high speed ram in used, but when 2133mhz is in used, then SOC_V drops of 0.8V only, This is why after swap in 32GB sticks, completely not enough to boot. Use 1.2V for SOC like the trick advice by datonyb.

CLDO_VDDP default is 900mv = 0.9V, but it can go easily to 1.05V, so try this also, this is the infinity fabric high way voltage.

32GB sticks may require more voltages.

finally try bios 6.20A or 6.20B, they are not out for no reason I think.

I had significant stability problem with 6.20, for two whole months I rejected to use 6.20A, but once upgraded, very stable, and very easy to overclock ram. I've got 3600 fast A0 PCB 1.38v, and 3733 safe 1.4V, all as per 1usmus calculator.

no -one really knows yet

as your aware getting the b550 boards into peoples hands seems impossible at the moment

what i can suggest though
is have a thought to buying the noctua 12s/12a heatsinks

they garrenty fitment (and i know the design allows you to adjust fans to clear ram type

ALSO

ram type .......... you didnt say what ram you will use

THIS PROBABLY HAS MORE BEARING than the cooler as to fitting
for example

gskill tridentz will clear far more coolers than gskill ripjaws due to having a lower heatsink on ram

Asus B550M Pro4 V1.10 running with Ryzen 5 3600 @ stock speed (1.4V core) and DDR4 LPX vengeance 3200 @ 3200MHz

I'm getting the BIOS HW menu showing 65degC!!! I removed the stock cooler, cleaned off everything and re-applied Artic MX-4 paste. Visually checked that it covered all edges of CPU from case peep holes and it looked good. All screws tight on wraith cooler. All visuals good.

Still BIOS is showing 62+ degC! My ambient is 23degC... Case is Fractal design node 804 with 3 case fans blowing at 700rpm. CPU fan is set to max 1900rpm.

When I go into my O/S Unraid using the Dyanmix Temp plugin, the cpu is reporting 39degC.... wtf

Is there something wrong with the temperature reported in the BIOS???

You'll find the majority of X570 and TRX40 boards from most manufacturers don't expose all USB capability/bandwidth. ASUS generally do on ROG boards, but they have their own problems (poor fan control above 75C, poor chipset cooling).

The X570 Creator is still a good board, if you need 10GbE and Thunderbolt 3. Also the Chipset generally stays below 55C even with the fan off which is good. Its necessary though as at any speed the chipset fan is loud.

The issue is that the board that I have received came into stock into my supplier (Scan Computers) and then came out to me. So either the supplier got old stock...or we are looking at the same issue on the new boards as well !

Same issue with any of the applications and Asrock B550m Pro4.
Not even the disc included works.

Let's see if they throw some light on this issue
