@MurkyWanders in the bios of my b450mpro4 board (bios 3.90) is a setting called Max Voltage Offset (AMD Overclocking, NBIO, SMU) i guess. This setting has the values AUTO, 25, 50, 75 and 100. You can try to apply an negative vcore Offset together with 100 for example. This will block the vcore. 100 is the strongest. The CPU stays cooler, too. But the boost is not going to the max anymore. I`m using an offset of -0.05V and Max Voltage Offset is 25. PBO at auto.

does it reboot just fine after saving settings? .. and when you go back into the BIOS, are your GFX settings saved?

If it's saying settings are applied but they are not actually applied .. you could try flashing the 2.30 BIOS and see if it actually applies your oc settings ..

Hi

I have a Fatal1ty X399 Professional motherboard and I just upgraded my CPU to 2970WX

system works without any problem, no crash or bsod BUT when I turn on the computer for very first time it turns on and turns off immediately and turns on by itself again and system boots

I believe this is the BIOS issue, I have the latest BIOS flashed, cleared the CMOS several times but still when I turn on the computer for very first time it turns off immediately and turns on again. all of my components are fine and this problem just started after I upgraded my CPU to TR4 2970WX.

Any Idea?

Hi.
I have A300 board and today update bios to 3.6; then system can only boot into bios instead of WINDOWS 64bit.
My SSD is 970 EVO NVME 500GB, seems like BIOS does not detect it as well. And I tried to flash back to 3.5 BIOS but no help.
Is there any solution can help to fix this situation? Thanks a lot!

Dear Raupenkotze,

Greetings, this is ASRock TSD.

Regarding your question, this memory module default frequency is 2133 and can overclock to 3200 frequency.
https://www.corsair.com/eu/en/Categories/Products/Memory/VENGEANCE-LPX/p/CMK16GX4M2B3200C16#tab-tech-specs

Please select [OC Tweaker] under UEFI setup and load XMP Setting to overclock the memory.
* Please be informed that overclocking may vary according to your system configuration.

Thanks!

All the best,
ASRock TSD

Dear Midna78,

Greetings, this is ASRock TSD.

According to your question, we provide some suggestions for verifying:

1. Please refer to user manual page.21 to clear CMOS.
http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Manual/A300M-STX.pdf

2. Please boot into BIOS setup and check if the SSD can be detected under Advanced tab > Storage Configuration.

3. Under BIOS>Boot tab, please set CSM to enabled/disabled by turns to check if system can boot into OS.

4. If possible, please install another PCIe M.2 SSD.

Thanks!

All the best,
ASRock TSD

I'm using unraid O/S, but to answer your question I dusted off an old SSD and booted bare metal into Win10. I installed the AMD software and it was showing 40+°C. If I go into the motherboard bios to the temperature / fan control tab, it shows 65°C. This is definitely a bug in the BIOS!

It isn't a bug, it's because the BIOS utilizes a single core at full frequency and
voltage the entire time you are in the UEFI. The size of the BIOS chip means there
simply isn't enough space to incorporate power saving of any kind. The end result
is a single core runs at near 100% load the entire time and gets hot.

If your cooling solution is keeping you under 80c in the BIOS then you are likely
not going to have any thermal issues in OS.

You are not the only one that was bothered by the high temps in the UEFI
I did a lot of research into it and asked some of my industry contacts about it.
The old text based BIOS setup was a lot less demanding and showed temps much
closer to what you would expect at idle in OS. It was also a lot less versatile.

Also bare in mind that I am talking about AMD in this instance (under 80c), most BIOS temp
monitoring monitors the tCTL sensor which is meant to be offset by between -10c
and -27c depending on the CPU model (threadripper is -27c). In practice this
usually means that if you are seeing 65c on an AMD Ryzen based system you would
likely see 55c on an intel board. Feel free to look up tCTL in more detail if you
like but in a nutshell, it exists to conrtol (CTL) the fans, by the fan controller
thinking that the temps are higher than they are it responds much more rapidly.
I suspect this is a limitation of fan controllers that were never designed to
manage such rapid heat fluctuation, more cores heating up together means much
sharper temp spikes than on older dual and quad core setups that were the norm
not that long ago.

I imagine new controllers will emerge eventually and the tCTL workaround will
be abandoned but I doubt it is a priority as the current method works very well
and doesn't cost anything to implement vs designing a new IC.

if all three of you have the same issue

then im guessing there is a problem with the app shop software and b550 boards

in which case here is not the place to get a speedy fix

i suggest opening a support ticket direct to asrock customer services

this is a forum consisting of normal guys trying to help normal guys

the asrock software team just wont get to hear of this issue here

(personally i think its probably been highligted already ,but opening up a support ticket would help )

I figured I would update this thread. I received the replacement motherboard and it is working properly. That is the good news.

The bad news is the replacement motherboard is used/refurbished. There was thermal paste around the socket, the thermal pad under the M.2 heatsink has dirt in it and the board itself was not clean with obvious signs of use. Not only did it take almost a month to get a replacement board but the replacement board I received is used!

I also still haven't received my "advanced replacement" $210.00 deposit yet, They received the defective board last Wednesday late morning and I am still waiting for the refund.

I will never use or recommend ASrock ever again. I have used MSI, Gigabyte and ASUS and I have never had an experience like this.

I can't edit the above post but I did receive and email saying my $210.00 deposit has been refunded. I am happy that has been done.

I've installed an NVMe SSD into the Ultra M.2 slot of my B450M Steel Legend. However, it is not detected when in Bios/UEFI, and Drive Manager / Disk Management could not find it. Is there some issue that I should be keeping an eye out for?

My Specs are

B450M Steel Legend
Ryzen 5 1600, stock cooler
500gb Samsung 860 EVO SSD, 1TB Toshiba HDD
Corsair Vengeance 16gb DDR4 2400Mhz
Win 10 x64 Pro
MSI GTX 1060 OCV1 6GB
BIOS P2.90
ThermalTake Smart RGB Series 600W
ThermtalTake Lvl 20 MT ARGB

The M.2 NVME SSD that I've inserted into the ULTRA M.2 Slot is ADATA Spectrix S40G 1TB RGB NVME. Prior to buying, I've checked on PCPartPicker and it showed that it has no issues with compatibility.

So initially after I've bought and inserted the M.2 NVME SSD, it seems that Disk Management was able to read it and made it into a drive. However, 3 weeks later, after a change of computer casing, without removing the M.2 SSD from the Ultra M.2 slot, the entire drive has disappeared and Windows/BIOS has not been able to detect it since.

From the motherboard manual, it seems that only M2_2 wouldn't be able to be used if SATA3_3 is in use. However, the only SATA ports that I've used are S3_1 and S3_2. And that my M.2 NVME is inserted in M2_1.

Has anyone out here faced the same issue, and could anyone please advise if a solution has been found.

Thanks

you can disable TR4 Boot Training in BIOS options and system won't turns on/off anymore but it is not a good solution a new AMD AGESA update is all I need.
