For sure the bios can be updated via FAT32 formatted USB disk with the instant flash function inside the bios.
But to be able to go into the bios you need a... ?

Maybe it is the fast startup on windows shutdown.
If it is on, it should be disabled.

Please follow the steps as below to uncheck the "Turn on fast startup" under windows.

Step 1. Open the Power Option item in control panel.
Step 2. Click the Choose what the power button do link.
Step 3. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Step 4. Clear the Turn on fast startup (recommend) check box.
Step 5. Click Save changes.

Yes, it says SVM is on in UEFI. All the settings you mention are good. Virtualization shows on in Windows under Task Manager > Performance & all settings for Hyper-V show enable under systeminfo.exe.

No matter what I do I can't get anything that needs virtualization to install.

There is a way by using a windows based flash tool.
But i'm sick of explaining, i did that several times, so
search for "downgrade" here in the forum.

Or directly ask Asrock for support.

AMD Motherboards : PCIe firewire card and Missing M.2 ultra drive

No the ultra card is no longer seen by bios or windows. I know it sounds strange but i'm using the standard M.2 as boot and the ultra drive as my DAW software and plug in's drive. I haven't started the Windows install yet as i'd like to establish now why the Ultra drive is no longer present.

The Firewire card is one of those generic PCIe x1 card with the ports at the rear 2x 600 and 1x400 with a further 600 port inside. The chip on the card is the VIA VT6307 and asmedia ASM1083.

Reason I think its a windows issue is that the bios clearly hands over to window and that's when you get the WHEA uncontrollable error BSOD. I've never got windows to load fully with the card plugged in.

Thanks for giving this some thought!

You maybe have to configure/increase the UMA frame buffer size in the bios too.

And this is not an Asrock issue, it is a configuration problem with the Ryzen APU.
Search for "ryzen 2200g virtualization" and you will see, that user with boards from other vendors have the same problem.

Thanks for hinting at a new direction to explore. Much appreciated.

Increase the UMA frame buffer size from what? To what? It's set to auto by default..?

I never had problems like this when I was using the APU on a B450M Pro4 so I have to say it kinda seems like it is a BIOS issue. I know the industry has been going through AMD growing pains for some time now...I get it. It would be nice if ASRock actually responded to requests for support though.

I'll freely admit this kind of tinkering w/UEFI settings is new to me so thanks for your patience.

There seems to be multiple places you can change UMA Frame buffer Size.

I changed the UMA Frame buffer Size in:

Advanced\North Bridge Configuration

to 2G and it looks like that changed it in:

Advanced\AMD CBS\NBIO Common Options\GFX Configuration

also. I tried installing Windows Sandbox again and it stills fails to boot/complete the install. Please advise.

Yep I've seen these issue's, difference is windows cant even load for me to deal with a suitable driver and once it loads up i'm not sure i'd be able to find the legacy drivers as Microsoft have broken links to the downloads.

Question is though what has happened to the Ultra drive, has the updated bios' caused it to no longer be seen?

Hi,

Should the x570 Taichi allow use of onboard graphics with Ryzen 9 CPU? I am not receiving HDMI out and can't see the Bios/IMEI screen. I do not have an external graphics card installed. The system appears to be set up properly and functioning otherwise.

Current set up:
- Fractal Define S2 case
- Cooler Master 1500w power supply
- AsRock Taichi x570 motherboard
- Trident Z RGB Ram (A2 and B2 positions for Dual stick configuration)
- EVO NvMe SSD properly installed under heat sink .
- NZXT Krakken 72 water cooler for the CPU
- Ryzen 9 AMD 12 Core CPU

A bios with AMD AGESA 1.0.0.6 for PinnaclePi should be the best for Gen1/Gen2 CPU.

But you can try a CMOS Reset with your current bios, if you did it not already.
If this does not help, you could downgrade to the previous version and retry and so on, if no success.

AMD Motherboards : New B450M/AC Ryzen 3200G build crashes under load

Subject: New B450M/AC Ryzen 3200G build crashes under load
Posted: 04 Nov 2019 at 8:17am

Built this PC yesterday and am getting consistent crashes with any type of game. No BSOD, just a black screen followed by an automatic reboot.

System Specs:

Ryzen 3200G APU
ASRock B450M/AC motherboard
8 or 16 GB GEIL DDR4 2666 (PC4 21330) RAM, 2x 8GB sticks (GASB416GB2666C19DC)
Team Group GX2 512GB SSD (T253X2512G0C101)
EVGA 500W power supply (BR 100-BR-0500-K1)
Windows 10 home 64 bit (build 1903)

No discrete GPU. We'd been waiting for the new 5500 cards.

I'm dealing with 2 potentially related issues:
Issue 1: On initial power up with the Windows 10 install USB in place the system hung during install right where the spinning circular dots appear. At the time I had both 8 GB RAM sticks installed in slots A2 and B2. I ended up pulling the stick in B2 and was able to complete install and system setup. Later found that the system would run with EITHER RAM stick in slot A2 but if I tried to put either stick in B2 the system would hang during boot. I've done a Windows Memory Diagnostic check on both sticks and they've passed with no issues.
I have not yet tried putting the sticks in A1, B1.

Issue 2: The system crashes during games. We get about a minute or less in game and then a black screen. No BSOD, no error message, just a black screen for a moment and then the computer automatically restarts. Consistent with Overwatch and Apex Legends. Checking temps in BIOS immediately after crashes the CPU is at ~47-50C and the mobo is at ~28-30C. I don't think that's high enough to trigger a thermal shutdown. I had turned down the graphics settings to low understanding that we wouldn't get great framerates on integrated graphics but we shouldn't be crashing either. The system also appears to crash occasionally outside of games. I'll walk away from the computer and find that it's reset itself when I come back.

Troubleshooting so far:
a. Swapped RAM sticks in A2. No effect, system still crashes with either stick installed.
b. Reseated RAM - done many times while swapping sticks. No effect.
c. Check and re-connect all other component connections. No effect.
d. Updated BIOS to V1.2. No effect
e. Set BIOS RAM speed to 2400MHz. No effect.
f. Set BIOS RAM CAS latency 19 to match mfr value (19). BIOS AUTO setting had it at 20 for some reason. Also reset BIOS value to 2666MHz. No effect.
g. Changed out power supply for an old XFX 850 watt model that had worked for me for many years. System wouldn't even boot. May re-try this to see if I did something wrong.
h. Updated all system drivers (chipset, etc.) Should have started there but still no effect.

At this point I'm not sure what to try next. Clearing CMOS? Adjusting other RAM settings? Any thoughts?

Hi, i'm trying to test the cooling of my CPU. I have Ryzen 1700x and asrock fatal1ty b450 gaming-itx/ac. I'm launching Prime95 and temperature rise until 74.75C(Ryzen master) and stopped, just like it has some software block. PC continues working, but temperature stay still at 74.75C. Is it start throtling? Is there any way to turn off this feature and look if temperature rise up to 85?

Ps it's interesting that bios and MB utility display cpu temperature higher on 20C than in Ryzen Master app. So the temperature is not going above 74C(ryzen master) and 94C(asrock utility). Why?

Upd - i found out that 20c offset in bios is common for ryzen cpus. It sort of extra protection. But i still have no idea why temperature is stop rising after 74.75C

It has been 3 months(!!) since the last Bios update for the B450 ITX... while there are many known issues. Meanwhile other manufacturers have released Agesa 1.0.0.4 already.

Wtf Asrock?
